The government also confirms that seven imported cases reported back on Monday and Tuesday involved the Omicron variant.
The cases involved six men and a woman aged between 29 and 61. Four tested positive at the Hong Kong International Airport and three during quarantine. Genome sequencing analysis confirmed all carried the Omicron variant.
The new additions takes the total number of Omicron cases in Hong Kong to 34.
On the other hand, the seven new imported cases were six men and a woman, aged between 29 and 61.
Four of them visited the United Kingdom. They have also been to the Philippines, Kenya, United States, Switzerland, France and Morocco.
Among them were a 61-year-old male patient and a 58-year-old female patient who live at Block 3, The Eldorado, Sha Tseng Road, Yuen Long.
They departed Hong Kong on December 2 for the UK, and returned to the city on December 20 by Cathay Pacific flight CX252. They tested positive at the airport and were found to carry the N501Y mutant strain – an indicator that they could be Omicron cases.
As a prudent measure, the places where they resided and visited in Hong Kong during the incubation period have been included in a compulsory testing notice on December 20.
Also, the government announced on Wednesday to tighten quarantine requirements for those who return from Burkina Faso, Cayman Islands and Togo.
They will be put into Group A from December 25 midnight, meaning non-Hong Kong residents will be banned from entry. Only fully vaccinated Hongkongers can return to the city.
