A woman in her 60s appeared in court yesterday charged with one count of indecent assault and two of common assault for kissing a 20-year-old man with different political views.
Ng Yip Suk-fun, 67, appeared before West Kowloon magistrate Colin Wong Sze-cheung. The retiree was granted bail pending the next appearance on May 27.
Ng's lawyer asked for no plea to be taken and hoped to adjourn the case to provide legal advice to the defendant and discuss with the prosecution whether there were other ways to handle the case.
However, Wong said the case had already been adjourned for the defense to provide legal advice.
The alleged offense happened on September 5 when Ng got into an argument with the young man, X, and his female friend at a park in Hoi Lai Estate, Cheung Sha Wan, over politics.
Ng and X did not know each other.
During the argument, she wanted to leave but was stopped and surrounded by X and his female friend, as well as other people at the scene.
Ng then tried to get out of the situation by kissing him on the lips.
X wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.
The incident led to physical conflict between Ng and X as she allegedly attacked him twice after kissing him.
