A 57-year-old auxiliary police officer, who also works as a taxi driver while off duty, has been charged with exposing himself to a female passenger in his taxi. He pleaded not guilty on Wednesday at Eastern Magistrates’ Courts to one count of indecent assault, claiming he suffers from eczema and tinea versicolor.
The defendant, surnamed Ng, denied that he had indecently exposed his genitals without lawful authority or reasonable excuse in a public place outside Happy Valley Racecourse on Sept. 1, 2025.
The court heard that prosecution witnesses will include the female passenger involved and a police officer.
The case was adjourned to April 22 for trial. The defense said it intends to call a private doctor to testify about Ng’s skin conditions, including eczema and tinea versicolor.
The prosecution said the female passenger felt embarrassed and distressed about giving evidence and requested to testify behind a screen, as well as to enter and exit the courtroom through a special passage. The defense opposed both the use of a screen and the special passage arrangement.
Magistrate David Cheung Chi-wai asked the prosecution whether the defendant was facing the female passenger at the time of the alleged offense. The prosecution said the woman had been seated on the left side of the rear seat of the taxi, making it easier for her to observe the defendant’s actions from the driver’s seat.
Cheung adjourned the matter for a pre-trial review to resolve the dispute, pending further information from the prosecution regarding the complainant’s psychological condition.
