The lockdown is expected to be lifted at 7am tomorrow.
All residents there must undergo compulsory testing before 12am tomorrow. Those who have undergone testing from August 4 to 6 with negative test results could be exempted from taking the test again.
Any person who had been present at Sea View Mansion for more than two hours from July 15 to August 6 must also undergo testing on or before August 8.
As a mutant strain is involved, for prudence's sake, vaccinated persons are also required for testing.
The lockdown came after Centre for Health Protection detected a preliminary positive case. The case involved a 32-year-old male patient who lives at Sea View Mansion.
He stayed at Sea View Mansion and went to work on 40-44 Bonham Strand in Sheung Wan from July 15 to 25.
He traveled to the US on July 25 and returned to Hong Kong on August 5 via Doha by flight QR818. His pre-departure tests conducted on July 24 in Hong Kong and August 2 in the US both tested negative.
His specimen then tested preliminary positive when undergoing arrival test at the Hong Kong International Airport. The test result found him carrying the L452R mutant strain.
Investigation also revealed that the man received two doses of BioNTech vaccine on April 7 and 28. The patient tested positive for antibodies on July 19.
