Uptown Plaza customer service staffer infected by Covid-19

A customer service staffer at Uptown Plaza in Tai Po who is a colleague of a previously infected 27-year-old man has been confirmed with Covid-19.

Authorities are investigating whether the female customer service staffer, 24, is also infected by the highly contagious and deadly Delta Covid-19 mutant strain, which her co-worker -- a part-time customer service officer at the mall and a full-time ground crew member at the airport -- has been diagnosed of.

The woman last went to work on Wednesday. On Thursday she was sent to a quarantine center as a close contact.

She developed a fever yesterday and was admitted to the hosptial, where she tested positive of the coronavirus.

She lives in Block 10, Tai Po Centre. Residents will be required to undergo compulsory testing.

The woman was among six cases yesterday. The other five were imported from Britain, Bangladesh and Indonesia.
