HK daily virus cases hit another record high

Hong Kong has reported another record-high in daily confirmed coroanvirus cases today as well as triple-digit increase for the ninth consecutive day.

Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan of the Centre for Health Protection said there have been 149 additional cases as at midnight – exceeding the previous record of 145 cases on Monday – bringing the tally to 3,152, which includes one probable case.

Four cases are imported and the rest are locally infected. Among the 145 local cases, 84 are linked to previous cases and source of infection for 61 others are still unknown.

The Hospital Authority said as at 9:00am today, there are 1,660 recoveries after 69 more patients were discharged and the death toll remains at 24.

Chief Manager of Patient Safety and Risk Management, Dr Sara Ho, said among 1,168 confirmed patients staying in 15 public hospitals and the Lei Yue Mun Park and Holiday Village, 39 are critical, 32 are serious and the rest are stable.

The occupancy rate of negative pressure beds and wards are 77 percent and 80 percent, respectively.
