The pro-establishment camp has blamed the pro-democracy lawmakers for the adjournment of the Legislative Council council meeting earlier, which affected discussions of many livelihood issues.
People Power lawmaker Raymond Chan Chi-chuen demanded a call for quorum earlier and the meeting was adjourned by Legco president Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen after a lack of a quorum.
Pro-establishment lawmakers criticized the opposition, saying that no pro-democracy lawmakers were present during the call of quorum, and if it was not deliberate, the meeting could have been continued
They considered that the discussion for extending the maternity leave later is not controversial. Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions lawmaker, Michael Luk Chung-hung, said the opposition stands against the employees.
Meanwhile, Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong lawmaker, Elizabeth Quat, said the mutual recognition of health codes between Hong Kong, Macau and the Chinese mainland will be discussed at the meeting, and that many Hong Kong people, including those who do business, cannot return to the mainland, which is inconvenient.
The council meeting was resumed at 12:30pm.
