Hong Kong stocks closed above 26,000 levels on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index closed 174 points or 0.67 percent higher at 26,033 after once plunging to a low of 25,913. 

The tech gauge closed at 5,644, up 45 points or 0.82 percent. 

Total market turnover for the day reached nearly HK$200.9billion.

Technology stocks delivered mixed performance. Meituan (3690) dropped 2.9 percent while Alibaba (9988) and Tencent (0700) rose 2.2 percent and 1.3 percent, respectively.

Xiaomi (1810) lost 1.8 percent.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.65 percent to 3,914 points while the Shenzhen Component Index rose 1.25 percent to 13,146.
