The two sessions of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference have successfully concluded in Beijing.
On the eve of the opening, the capital welcomed a rare, auspicious snowfall. As the saying goes, “A timely snow promises a bountiful year.”
This spring snow not only draped the solemn Great Hall of the People in silver white, but also symbolizes that the nation will enjoy peace and prosperity in the new year. Inside the Great Hall, deputies and members deliberated on state affairs, focusing on development and planning for the future, showcasing the country’s steady and resolute progress.
While Beijing rejoiced in the auspicious snow, the other side of the world was engulfed in endless flames of war. Tensions in the Middle East persist, with dark clouds of conflict looming, leaving innocent civilians displaced and their lives gravely threatened. What are those self-proclaimed “peace defenders” – who constantly tout “human rights” and readily accuse other nations – doing at this moment?
Interestingly, the west often features classic examples of double standards. Some hoist the laurels of a “Peace Prize” while igniting wars across the globe; and they preach “human rights” loudly yet turn a blind eye to civilian casualties. Such absurd theater inevitably draws ridicule.
True peace is never just a slogan on lips; it must be realized through actions. China steadfastly pursues peaceful development and remains committed to resolving disputes through dialogue. This is the responsibility of a major, responsible power.
A timely snow heralds abundance. We have to continue prosperity and strength, and hope the world will soon embrace genuine peace. As for those who speak of human rights while wielding war, clear-eyed observers see it all plainly – after the wind and snow pass, the truth emerges.
