Nvidia's Huang praises Xiaomi EVs, 'astonished' by industry's boom in China

Nvidia founder Jensen Huang on Wednesday said he would like to buy a Xiaomi (1810) car, praising the company as a close and valued partner.

He highlighted Nvidia's close collaboration with Xiaomi across multiple fronts and said that from the day he met Xiaomi founder Lei Jun, he knew the Chinese tech entrepreneur was destined for extraordinary success.

In the past five years, China's electric vehicle industry has arguably been the most astonishing development globally, he said.

He admitted that Lei has built an exceptional company. This company is nothing short of a miracle – producing everything from stunning smartphones to high-performance vehicles, as well as a wide range of products in between, Huang said. “It's hard to imagine one company creating so many outstanding products, which truly highlights what makes Lei so special.”

He also pointed out that while China is well known for its strong hardware technologies such as batteries and power systems, there is another “miracle” often overlooked, saying China’s computer science and software capabilities are among the world's best.
