Commuters on the MTR with some minutes to spare should stop and enjoy an exhibition featuring porcelain plates with 99 MTR station names inscribed in Korean Calligraphy connect cultures and generations.
Over 90 Korean and local porcelain painting and art enthusiasts also produced famous landmarks on the 99 in their own artistic styles on exquisite plates. They include Korean calligraphy artist Lucia Choi inscribing station names in Korean on plates using her unique calligraphy fonts.
“The participation of porcelain artists and students from various cultural and national backgrounds adds a fresh perspective to the revitalization and preservation of traditional cultures in a contemporary context,” says Linda Choy Siu-min, the MTR Corp’s corporate affairs and branding director.
The exhibition will remain until January 14 at Exit J of Central Station, and then exhibits will be rotated to Sheung Wan and Sai Wan Ho stations from January 16 to March 20.
