Run raises $1.5m for disabled athletes

Over 1,600 runners have raised HK$1.5 million for disabled athletes in this year's LifeCare Charity Run.

The runners who participated in the run yesterday included elite distance runner Chan Ka-ho, visually impaired runner Gary Leung Siu-wai and "Wonder Kid" So Wa-wai.

The funds will be donated to the Hong Kong Transplant Sports Association and the Hong Kong Blind Sports Federation, which would aid disabled athletes in their career development.

"It is inspiring that as many as 1,600 runners can join the charity run amid the pandemic," said chairman of the Life Underwriters Association of Hong Kong Stanley Tse Lap-yee.

"Gary and So Wa-wai were invited to participate in the event as we want to promote social integration and encourage mutual communication," he added.
