The Immigration Department (ImmD) on Friday repatriated 31 Vietnamese nationals to Vietnam. The group included 19 men and 12 women, all unsubstantiated non-refoulement claimants.
Some were discharged prisoners who had served sentences for criminal offenses.
ImmD emphasized its commitment to promptly removing unsubstantiated claimants to maintain immigration control and protect public interest.
Since the updated removal policy took effect on December 7, 2022, removals can generally proceed after dismissal of judicial review by the Court of First Instance.
The department will continue expediting removals through close coordination with source-country governments, airlines, and relevant authorities.
