A salty water pipe burst in the pump room of Lai Man House at Oi Man Estate last night around 8pm, causing damage to the freshwater pump control box.
This led to a suspension of flushing water supply to 1,670 units across Po Man House, Lai Man House, Kin Man House and Kar Man House.
At the same time, fresh water supply was cut off to 1,020 units on floors 10 to 19 of Po Man House, Lai Man House and Kin Man House.
The Housing Department immediately mobilized engineering staff and contractors for emergency repairs, successfully restoring fresh water supply to all affected blocks by 5am today.
To minimize inconvenience to residents, estate management swiftly arranged water wagons in collaboration with the Water Supplies Department, distributed bottled water, monitored residents’ needs, and provided necessary support.
District councilors and care teams were also contacted to offer on-site assistance.
