A non-local man was arrested on Monday (Feb 16) after allegedly damaging multiple self-service check-in kiosks in the departure hall of Hong Kong International Airport.
Police said the incident occurred early Monday when the suspect was seen overturning smart check-in counters and striking a metal barrier pole near the check-in area. Airport staff reported the disturbance and officers were dispatched to the scene.
The man was subdued and arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and possession of Part 1 poisons. No injuries were reported.
Photos circulating online showed several kiosks pushed over and queue barriers broken, with debris scattered across the floor. The affected area was later cordoned off for clean-up.
Airport operations were not significantly disrupted. Police are continuing their investigation.
