The Consulate-General of Nepal hosted Nepal Promotion Expo 2026 in early February, aimed at enhancing trade, investment and cultural exchange between Nepal, Hong Kong and the international community, while also celebrating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the country and China.
The evening gathering included product displays, business networking and cultural performances. 15 Nepali vendors showcased handicrafts, religious artefacts, textiles, jewellery, as well as travel and financial services. Nepali food and drinks were also served to members of the consular corps and the local business sector.
In his remarks, Consul‑General Bindeswar Prasad Lekhak said Nepal is actively open to foreign direct investment, with improvements in infrastructure, connectivity, policies and governance.

He called for closer people‑to‑people relations between Nepal and Hong Kong to further expand bilateral trade and investment. He also reviewed the development of Nepal‑China relations and looked to future cooperation.
Anna Cheung Sze-wai, Assistant Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, said Hong Kong’s strengths as a transport and capital hub can benefit Nepali businesses and projects.
During the event, the consulate also recognized two Nepali Hong Kongers who reached the summit of Sagarmatha (Mount Everest) in 2025. The pair shared their climbing experiences and their links between Nepal and Hong Kong.
Cultural performances were staged by local Nepali groups, including traditional dances such as Ghaatu Naach, Laakhey Naach and Khukuri Naach.
The event carried themes of peace and harmony. A newly consecrated Buddha statue, presented to the consulate by Nepal Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong, was also put on display.
