Located opposite the Grade II historic Old Yau Ma Tei Police Station on Canton Road, the refreshed outlet pays tribute to the supermarket chain’s long history in the city since 1945. The concept centers on recreating the atmosphere of Hong Kong from the 1950s to the 1970s, blending retro design elements with daily grocery shopping.
The storefront features LED signage modeled after old Hong Kong neon lights, along with mirrored tiles reminiscent of traditional shopfronts. Inside, shoppers pass through a classic silver-and-green turnstile before entering what the company describes as a “time tunnel,” complete with red plastic lamps, a retro television display, an old-style telephone installation, vintage grocery scenes and traditional street signs.

In addition to the themed décor, the store offers a selection of locally inspired souvenirs and limited-edition items. Among them is a retro eco bag modeled after the brand’s former red-and-yellow carrier bag. Customers can redeem the bag for HK$28 with a single purchase of HK$100 or more.
Throughout February, the store is also offering selected promotional items, including a mini red SMEG Lifebox container and a limited-edition Lunar New Year set created in collaboration with local brand Goods of Desire. These offers are available in limited quantities and are exclusive to the Yau Ma Tei branch.
Wellcome’s nostalgia concept store is located at G/F, Unit 1–11, Block 5, Prosperous Garden, 3 Public Square Street, Yau Ma Tei, and is open daily from 8am to 10pm.
