A taxi driver and a bus driver were injured after their vehicles collided head-on on New Clear Water Bay Road in Sau Mau Ping on Thursday night, after the taxi allegedly drove the wrong way.
The incident occurred at around 8.40pm under the flyer near Shun Lee Estate Road. A KMB double-decker bus on Route 26 was traveling toward Sai Kung when a taxi approached from the opposite direction. The bus driver was unable to brake in time, and the two vehicles collided.
Both front ends were severely damaged. The taxi's bonnet was crumpled and its airbags deployed. The bus also sustained front-end damage.
The two drivers, both reporting neck and chest pain, were taken to United Christian Hospital by ambulance.
Initial investigation suggests the taxi may have entered the wrong carriageway near the HKMA David Li Kwok Po College section of New Clear Water Bay Road. Roadworks were underway nearby, with water-filled barriers dividing the carriageways.
Police do not rule out the possibility that the taxi had entered the opposite lane before the roadworks section.
