The MTR Corporation has announced special service arrangements for the Lunar New Year, including overnight operations and additional train trips, to facilitate public travel during the festive period.
The enhanced services will begin on Friday and continue through the Lunar New Year holidays. The arrangements include more than 600 additional train trips, overnight services on Lunar New Year’s Eve, and increased evening frequencies on the first two days of the Lunar New Year to accommodate passengers attending the night parade and fireworks along Victoria Harbour.
On Lunar New Year’s Eve on February 16, all MTR rail lines—except the Airport Express and the Disneyland Resort Line—will operate at evening peak frequencies from 3pm onwards to support travel for family reunions and festive celebrations.
Overnight services will also be provided on Friday night across all local railway lines, as well as on seven Light Rail routes.
During the Lunar New Year period from Friday through February 23, services on the East Rail Line and Island Line will be enhanced at various times of the day to meet increased passenger demand.
Additional evening trips will be added on the Tuen Ma Line on February 17 to cater for passengers traveling to the night parade.
For visitors heading to Hong Kong Disneyland, the Disneyland Resort Line will operate enhanced morning services from February 17 to 23.
Meanwhile, the High Speed Rail will also increase services between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Futian Station, along with additional overnight sleeper train trips to and from Beijing West Station, to support cross-boundary travel during the holiday period.
