62-year-old main suspect Mui Yiu-keung, wanted for nearly 37 years over the 1989 Sai Kung Lung Ha Wan murder, was arrested in Bangkok this week, extradited to Hong Kong, and appeared in Eastern Magistrates' Courts on Saturday morning on a murder charge.
Mui, now 62 and formerly a food stall operator, was arrested in Bangkok on Monday after allegedly fleeing for almost 37 years. He was brought back to Hong Kong and immediately detained by police.
He faces one count of murder, accused of killing Lau together with others at Lung Ha Wan, Sai Kung, on August 31, 1989.
This morning, Mui appeared at Eastern Magistrates’ Court wearing a brown shirt and black-framed glasses. He remained calm while standing in the dock and was represented by a duty lawyer. He did not enter a plea.
Magistrate Minnie Wat Lai-man adjourned the case to April 10 at Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts for further police investigation. Mui made no bail application and was remanded in custody.
