A detective from the Central police district lost an official police mobile phone on February 4, prompting an immediate investigation and appeal to the public for its return on Friday.
Hong Kong police announced yesterday that a member of the Central District Crime Squad discovered the loss of an official police mobile phone on February 4.
Officers launched an investigation right away and searched possible locations where the device might have been misplaced, but it has not been recovered.
The case is classified as loss of government property and is being handled by the Central police district.
The phone has been deactivated, and its service has been terminated. Police confirmed it contains no personal data, and all other information has been wiped.
Authorities urge anyone who finds the device to hand it in at the nearest police station or contact the Central District Crime Squad directly at 3660 1230.
