Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the exhibition combines the iconic local comic Old Master Q with contemporary Hong Kong wuxia (martial arts) novels through immersive storytelling, interactive displays, and games.
The exhibition also showcases a range of notable items, including replica letters from renowned wuxia novelist Jin Yong mourning the passing of his contemporary Liang Yusheng, as well as Jin Yong’s first signed copy from 2000.

In a video address at the opening ceremony, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said that Old Master Q has accompanied generations of Hong Kong people and humorously reflected social realities.
He said the exhibition represents a cultural fusion that blends Old Master Q with modern wuxia literature, helping the public appreciate the virtue of chivalry—known as xiayi in wuxia novels—and understand the evolution of wuxia literature.

Lee also noted that local authors, nurtured in an environment that blends Chinese and Western cultures, have produced many outstanding works, forming a valuable cultural asset for the city.
According to Lee, the Museum of Hong Kong Literature aims to integrate literature with technology and engage the community through exhibitions, talks, and digital communication, with a view to enhancing Hong Kong’s cultural landscape, fostering exchange, and encouraging greater public appreciation and participation in literature.
