King Ling College in Tseung Kwan O has informed parents about a suspected theft incident after six student wallets were discovered in a campus restroom.
The school issued a notice on Sunday stating the wallets were found in a student restroom last Thursday (January 29). The school said it is highly concerned and has taken immediate action, including contacting the owners, relevant parents, the Education Bureau's district officer, and police.
Police have now taken over the investigation.
The notice emphasized the school's commitment to moral education and teaching students to be courteous and law-abiding. It stated that theft is a serious offence and violates Hong Kong's Theft Ordinance, and the school will handle the matter rigorously to protect students.
While police investigate, the school urged parents and the school to work together to enhance students' safety awareness and secure personal belongings. It noted the campus has facilities to help students store valuables and maintain security.
