The Hong Kong Section of the High Speed Rail will introduce 16 new stops starting January 26, bringing the total number of direct-access destinations to over 100, the MTR Corporation announced on Sunday.

The new destinations will connect Hong Kong with major cities in Eastern China, such as Nanjing, Wuxi, and Hefei, which serve as key hubs for business and high-tech industries while also offering rich cultural and tourism resources.
Other new direct-access destinations include Qingyuan, Miluodong, Quanzhoudong, Quanzhounan, Huidong, Huizhounan, Fuzhounan, Shantounan, Huilai, Lufengdong, Lufengnan, Chaonan and Xingningnan stations.
An additional pair of round-trip trains will operate daily between West Kowloon Station and Shanghai Hongqiao Station, with stops at intermediate stations including Hefeinan, Nanjingnan, and Wuxidong.
The Shanghai Hongqiao sleeper train service will also be upgraded from operating Friday to Monday to daily departures.
Meanwhile, the Corporation will introduce multiple improvements to short- and medium-haul train services effective from January 26.
Round-trip trains between West Kowloon Station and Guangzhounan Station will increase from 19 to 24 pairs per day, further facilitating travel across the Greater Bay Area.
Of the three pairs of trains operating daily between West Kowloon Station
and Xiamen Station, one will be extended to Fuzhou Station.
Additionally, the number of train pairs between Hong Kong and Shantou will be increased from four to five per day.
