The future of Hong Kong’s railway is on full display at Kowloon Station, where the MTR’s new exhibition “Future Rail Explorer” invites visitors to step into tomorrow’s transit world through dazzling lights, immersive soundscapes, and cutting-edge interactive technology.
Running from November 15 to December 6 at the MTR Gallery, the exhibition takes visitors on a multi-sensory journey across four themed zones that showcase the corporation’s upcoming railway projects and urban development initiatives.
The adventure begins at the “Future Vista Deck,” where guests can preview major expansion projects including Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line, the Northern Link, Tung Chung Line Extension, Tuen Mun South Extension, Hung Shui Kiu Station on the Tuen Ma Line, and Oyster Bay Station.
At the heart of the experience is “Journey Through Light on the New Railway”—a 270-degree immersive theater featuring three panoramic screens. Narrated by actor Raymond Lam, the show takes audiences through the past, present, and future of Hong Kong’s railway development in a captivating blend of light, shadow, and storytelling.
Beyond the visual spectacle, the interactive game zone turns learning into play, where visitors can join MTR mascot T-Chai in hands-on activities to explore how railways shape the city.
For those who want to capture the moment, the “Future Railway Network Photo Zone” offers the chance to don MTR engineer uniforms and pose against backdrops of future construction sites. An exclusive selfie station and limited-edition postcards and souvenirs add to the fun.
Admission is free, but advance registration is required via the MTR’s official website on a first-come, first-served basis.
Due to limited capacity, weekday sessions run twelve times a day from 12noon to 8pm, while weekends and public holidays feature fifteen sessions daily from 9.30am to 8pm.
