A 25-year-old university student died after apparently suffocating himself while engaging in a risky sexual practice, with his father discovering the body in their Kwai Chun Court apartment on Thursday after two days of seclusion.
The young man, surnamed Wong, lived with his father and younger sister in a unit at Kwai Chun Court in Kwai Chung.
As a second-year university student, Wong told his sister on Tuesday not to enter his bedroom because he needed to prepare for exams. He remained inside without emerging, prompting concern from his family.
Two days later, on Thursday, Wong's father grew suspicious when his son still had not left the room.
Upon opening the door, he was horrified to find Wong lying unconscious on the bed, wearing only underwear, with a blue cloth wrapped around his neck.
The body already showed signs of livor mortis on his hands and feet, indicating he had been dead for some time.
A pornographic website image was displayed on his computer screen. The father immediately called the police.
Arriving officers conducted an initial investigation and found no suspicious injuries or a suicide note on the body.
Neighbors reported hearing no arguments or disturbances from the apartment.
Further inquiries revealed that Wong had a habit of viewing and storing adult photos and videos.
Authorities believe he wrapped the blue cloth around his neck to heighten sexual stimulation while watching explicit content, which led to accidental asphyxiation.
He likely fainted from lack of oxygen and died without receiving aid.
The case has been classified as a discovered body and is being handled by the Kwai Chung police district .
