A Mercedes driver was arrested for suspected drink-driving after his convertible crashed into railings in Causeway Bay early Thursday.
The incident occurred around 3am when the open-top Mercedes, traveling along Causeway Bay Road toward Causeway Bay, lost control near Brown Street and collided with railings on the opposite lane.
Emergency personnel extracted the male driver from the vehicle, though he sustained no injuries. A breathalyzer test showed alcohol levels above the legal limit, leading to his arrest for drink-driving.
The approximately 40-year-old driver, who had a male passenger in his 30s in the car, claimed he swerved to avoid a taxi in the same lane before losing control and hitting the railings.
Approximately four meters of railings were damaged in the accident.
