A van crossing into the opposite lane on Tai Po Road nearly caused a head-on collision with a taxi on Wednesday evening, with dashcam footage capturing the close call.
The incident occurred around 6:41 pm near Kowloon Reservoir when a van traveling toward Sha Tin lost control around a bend, entering the oncoming lane. A taxi driver heading toward Kowloon quickly swerved and sounded the horn to avoid collision.

The taxi driver, believed to be the footage uploader, expressed relief while noting his passenger had criticized him for avoiding rather than accepting the collision. He responded that he preferred avoiding the accident over potentially fatal consequences.
Online discussions largely supported the driver's quick reflexes while criticizing the passenger's remarks. Many netizens described avoiding as the natural reflex for any driver and emphasized the importance of preventing potentially fatal accidents.
