A nearly 2-meter-long Burmese python was discovered coiled in a large banyan tree in To Kwa Wan on Monday morning, prompting a coordinated effort by police, snake catchers, and firefighters to remove the reptile safely.
At around 9am today, police received a report of a snake spotted in a banyan tree at the junction of King Wan Street and Kwei Chow Street in To Kwa Wan.
The snake, later identified as a female Burmese python, was seen moving through the branches, approximately 10 meters above the ground, making it difficult to reach.
Police contacted a local snake-catching expert surnamed Chow for assistance.
However, Chow noted that the snake’s high position in the tree initially made capture impossible, leaving his team to "stand and watch."
Firefighters were then called in, utilizing a ladder truck to successfully retrieve the python.
According to Chow, the snake, measuring close to 2 meters in length, had likely been residing in the tree for about two weeks.
The Burmese python was safely captured and removed from the area, ensuring no harm to the public or the animal.
