Starting today and running until tomorrow (Sep 20), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) hosts its 11th Entrepreneur Day at Yasumoto International Academic Park, organized by the CUHK Alumni Torch Fund.
The two-day event celebrates the university’s vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem, showcasing nearly 50 innovative projects from students, alumni, and faculty in fields like artificial intelligence, biotechnology, healthcare, green technology, social innovation, education, cultural industries, the Internet of Things, and advanced manufacturing.
Featuring exhibitions, thematic talks, and the CUHK Entrepreneurship Competition, the event promotes a culture of innovation and collaboration, highlighted by an interactive zone with CUHK-bred unicorn SenseTime.
The opening ceremony on September 19 included a keynote dialogue titled “Entrepreneurship × Investment—Decoding the DNA of Success,” featuring CUHK Vice-Chancellor Professor Dennis Lo and Cindy Chow, Executive Director of the Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund.
They discussed transforming innovative ideas into practical achievements, exploring trends, opportunities, and challenges in entrepreneurship and investment. Distinguished guests, including Hong Kong’s Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology, and Industry, Lillian Cheong, and Anna Cheung from the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, attended the ceremony, underscoring the event’s significance.
On the second day, prominent alumni speakers, including Caroline Tsang, Chief Operating Officer at Sanrio Hong Kong, and Hui Ha-lam, CEO of B.Duck Semk Holdings, will share insights on generating commercial value through intellectual property in competitive markets and discuss challenges in Hong Kong’s IP development.
Additionally, Dr. Wah Choi, founder of WomenX Biotech, will highlight her journey commercializing Hong Kong’s first menstrual blood HPV detection sanitary pads, addressing opportunities and trends in the FemTech sector.
