A tragic incident in Macau's Fai Chi Kei neighborhood resulted in the death of two brothers on Monday, following what police described as a prolonged financial dispute.
The Macau Judiciary Police reported that the situation began to unfold around noon today when they received a distress call from the son of one of the deceased men.
The son recounted how, after returning home from a medical appointment with his father, the older man unexpectedly locked himself inside their apartment. From outside the door, the son noticed an unconscious man on the living room floor.
Upon their arrival, police and firefighters were forced to break into the apartment, where they saw one of the residents fall from the balcony.
Inside, officers found the severely decomposed body of the man's brother, who was in his sixties, in the living area.
The body exhibited multiple skull fractures that appeared to be caused by blunt force trauma.
An 85-centimeter metal pipe, stained with blood, was discovered in a corner of the room and is suspected to be the murder weapon.
The investigation revealed that the younger brother had been to the apartment by himself the previous Friday afternoon, with the older brother returning around 6pm that evening.
It is believed that the body remained undiscovered for about 48 hours until the grim discovery on Monday.
Authorities indicated that the brothers had been embroiled in a longstanding financial dispute.
The case is treated as a suicide and murder case for follow-up.
