Members of 24/7 Fitness have complained about a surveillance camera installed inside the men's toilet at the chain's Heng On Station branch in Ma On Shan.
Several users expressed concerns about being recorded while using the facilities and claimed staff failed to take immediate action when alerted.
In response to media inquiries, the privacy watchdog confirmed receiving one formal complaint about the incident. Investigators visited the premises and verified the controversial camera has since been removed.
The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data stated it will monitor the situation to ensure proper protection of members' privacy. The gym chain has yet to issue a public statement regarding the incident.
