A 47-year-old woman was found dead in her Mid-Levels apartment this morning in what police suspect to be a suicide attempt involving a plastic bag and charcoal burning. The grim discovery was made after the victim's 10-year-old son alerted authorities at approximately 10am.

Officers responding to the emergency call at Sherwood Court on Mosque Junction this morning reported detecting a distinct charcoal odor upon entering the residence.
They discovered the woman unconscious with a plastic bag secured over her head, alongside apparent signs of charcoal burning. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Police have cordoned off the unit as investigators work to determine the exact circumstances leading to the tragedy. The investigation continues as police piece together the events preceding the incident.
