The Education Bureau will launch Digital Education Week 2025, a landmark event promoting digital transformation in education, in late June as an effort to accelerate the development of students' digital literacy.
The event will promote cross-sector collaboration and showcase cutting-edge innovations in educational technology (EdTech) through expos and workshops.
In a pre-recorded speech for an event, Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan Kwok-ki emphasized the government’s focus on cultivating students' information and digital literacy.
He highlighted the Steering Committee on the Strategic Development of Digital Education proposed in last year's Policy Address, which aims to enhance teacher training in innovation and technology (I&T) specialties.
Speaking at the same event, John Lee Chi-kin, President of The Education University of Hong Kong, noted that the university has launched the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance for Primary and Secondary Schools STEAM Education.
Additionally, 2,180 students from 38 local and Shenzhen schools participated in a course on the effective use of generative artificial intelligence (AI).
This initiative was organized by a school located in Shek Mun, with the goal of breaking the world record for the "largest AI literacy class in a single session.
