The government is set to establish the standards and guidelines regarding representative bearers of intangible cultural heritage (ICH), according to the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office.
Head of the office Judith Ng Suet-kwan noted that the office will collaborate with the Hong Kong Tourism Board to promote the city's inaugural Intangible Cultural Heritage Month.
Ng stressed that the office has conducted research on the formulation of recognition methods for representative bearers in Macau and Guangdong Province, drawing insights to inform local practices.
"The authorities are developing local standards aligned with the national ICH framework, and the work is still underway," she added.
Meanwhile, Intangible Cultural Heritage Month will launch on May 31, under the theme "ICH Around Town".
The event will feature carnivals across multiple areas in Hong Kong, highlight Tours in six districts, and an exhibition showcasing Jiangxi's Ganzhou Hakka Culture.
