One of the suspects accidentally left his wallet containing his identity card at the scene while fleeing.
The trio were arrested soon after the robbery on Saturday night. Police are still looking for three men on the run.
"We believe that the three were recruited by others to perform illegal acts, and we are still looking for the mastermind," said assistant district commander of Yau Tsim District, superintendent Tsang Chung-bun, yesterday.
It was understood that one of them had been given HK$8,000 as reward.
"Some of them [the arrested] were students, while some were drop-outs," Tsang said, adding that all of them were locals and some were believed to have triad backgrounds.
He said only a small part of the HK$10 million was recovered.
One of the people arrested left behind his wallet, which had his identity card inside and served as a clue when checking CCTV footage nearby.
A mainland jewelry shop employee with an exit-entry permit was assaulted by four men and had his suitcase snatched on Saturday morning when he walked past Chatham Road South.
The suitcase contained foreign currencies, including US dollars, sterling pounds, euros and Canadian dollars in cash worth a total of HK$10 million.
The employee was slightly injured on his hands, legs and head.
