Macau visitor numbers halve

Macau recorded a 54.3 percent year-on-year drop in visitors last month to 366,511 amid rising Covid infections in neighboring regions, according to the Statistics and Census Service.

Visitor arrivals also declined by 36.84 percent month-on-month, after increasing for three months on the trot to 580,333 in October.

The number of mainland visitors slid by 56.8 percent year-on-year and 38.27 percent month-on-month to 320,267. Fifty-seven percent of the visitors were from the Pearl River Delta while 38,562 visitors were from Hong Kong.

Visitor arrivals for the first 11 months dropped by 22.9 percent year-on-year to 5.31 million.
