Hong Kong shares rise at open

Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Friday due to the easing geopolitical tensions.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 252 points, or 1.04 percent, to 24,501.

The tech gauge went up 1.24 percent to 4,713.

Chow Tai Fook Jewellery (1929) jumped 5.2 percent at the opening bell on its growth in the annual profit, while Laopu Gold (6181) surged 7.8 percent, marking the best performer among blue chips.

Chipmakers outperformed the market, with SMIC (0981) and Hua Hong Semiconductor (1347) advancing 3.1 percent and 4.6 percent.
