Hang Seng Index plunges below 26,000 points on Wednesday

Hong Kong stocks plunged below the 26,000-point mark on Wednesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index declined by 405 points, or 1.56 percent, to 25,633 points at the close.

The market turnover dropped to to HK$322.9 billion.

The Hang Seng Tech Index also lost by 2.7 percent to 5,056 points.

In the mainland, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index was up by 0.22 percent to 4,083 points and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Component Index gained by 0.7 percent to 15,704 points.
