The company could list in Hong Kong as early as February, the sources said, adding that discussions are ongoing and the size and timing of the deal may still change, according to the report. Morgan Stanley, CITIC Securities (6030) and Goldman Sachs are acting as joint sponsors.
Muyuan’s Shenzhen-listed shares closed down 0.3 percent at 47.18 yuan (HK$52.79) on Monday, giving the company a market capitalization of around 258 billion yuan.
Data from consultancy Frost & Sullivan showed that Muyuan has ranked as the world’s largest hog breeder by production capacity and hog shipments since 2021, according to an exchange filing. Its global market share by hog shipments rose from 2.6 percent in 2021 to 5.6 percent in 2024, exceeding the combined share of the second- to fourth-largest players in 2024.
