Securities and Futures Commission chief executive Julia Leung Fung-yee is expected to be renewed for another three-year term when her current mandate expires at year-end, according to a Bloomberg report.
The anticipated reappointment comes after local media previously reported high market expectations for Leung's continuation, given the absence of both official succession announcements and public recruitment for her position with less than three months remaining in her term.
Leung, who joined the SFC in 2015, made history in January 2023 when she succeeded Ashley Alder as CEO, becoming the first woman to lead Hong Kong's securities regulator.
