Hong Kong’s official foreign currency reserve assets stood at US$408.7 billion (HK$3.18 trillion) at the end of April, down US$3.8 billion, or 0.9 percent, from a month earlier, the city’s de facto central bank said on Thursday.
The reserve assets represent over five times the currency in circulation, or about 36 percent of the more volatile M3 measure of money circulating, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority said in its website.
Including unsettled foreign exchange contracts, the city's total reserve assets stood at US$407.9 billion at end-April, a drop from US$411.9 billion at the end of March.
