Chinachem Group Recognized As Global Sector Leader For Sustainable Development Efforts

Chinachem Group was recognized as a global sector leader for its environmental, social, and governance efforts across its businesses.

The developer received the title for 2024 in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark, with a five-star rating in both the Development Benchmark and Standing Investment Benchmark categories. 

As a leading sustainability assessment and benchmark organization for the global real estate industry, GRESB evaluated 2,223 real estate companies this year.

Chinachem Group received a four-star rating from GRESB last year.

The developer has implemented a Carbon Reduction Roadmap CCG 3050+ to address carbon emissions generated by the built environment.

It committed to reducing carbon intensity by 51.8 percent by 2030, compared with the 2020 baseline. As of this year, Chinachem has already achieved a 33 percent reduction in carbon intensity. 

Chinachem has been introducing green building technologies in Hong Kong, such as promoting adopting a smart site safety system. 

The developer held Chinachem Sustainability Conference 2024 in November, with over 5,000 participants attending in-person and online. 

The conference, with the theme Integrating Sustainability Solutions towards a Resilient Future, brought together stakeholders from government, business, academia and research, to offer suggestions for the interim review of Hong Kong's Climate Action Plan 2050.
