Film mogul Charles Heung has confirmed he and his wife Tiffany Chen have decided to leave their entire estate to be managed by their eldest son's wife, Taiwanese actress Bea Hayden, bypassing their two sons entirely.
In a TikTok video on Wednesday, Heung explained the decision, citing concerns that his sons Jacky and Jonathan Heung lack business acumen and are vulnerable to being deceived. "If I leave the property to them, it will soon be cheated away," he said.
The couple will establish a family fund managed by Hayden, ensuring their grandchildren's future while providing only basic living expenses for their sons. "We see that Bea Hayden is very good at managing money, not wasteful. My wife and I are very reassured," Heung stated.
The arrangement includes conditions: grandchildren cannot study in the United States or immigrate there, or they will lose their inheritance rights. Chen's jewelry collection will go directly to her granddaughter.
Heung acknowledged the decision seems unfair to his younger son Jonathan, who has complained of favoritism. "It's unfair, unfair, he keeps saying. There's no choice, he must blame us," Heung said, revealing Jonathan's calls now go through a secretary after his mother blocked him on messaging apps.
The will can be amended if the sons change their behavior over the next decade, Heung added.
