After months of silence, actress Myolie Wu Hang-yee has clarified the swirling rumors regarding her husband, Philip Lee Shing-tak, who was spotted at a nightclub with several women in March, asserting that it was all a complete misunderstanding.
The actress spoke about the incident publicly for the first time at a Macau event on Wednesday (May 7), revealing that her husband was accompanied by their close friends that night, including the two women photographed, both of whom were with their husbands.
Wu explained that her husband had hugged their husbands before the wives, but the footage was selectively edited, resulting in a significant misunderstanding.
“We definitely have no issues in our relationship”, Wu said.
Addressing speculations of an insider leak, Wu shared that her husband, familiar with the restaurant owner, reviewed the CCTV and found a man who had come alone to film.
She added that her husband was aware of being filmed but believed he had done nothing wrong, stressing that he did not expect the report to result in such misunderstandings.
Wu humorously remarked that her husband would likely avoid such public places in future, as his every move is now closely watched by reporters.
“There is nothing we can do, I am his wife, and every action I take draws attention”, Wu said resignedly.
Expressing confidence in her husband, she emphasized that she knows him well after years of marriage and believes he has done nothing wrong.
In response to the cancellation of a scheduled interview in a Hong Kong brand event last month, Wu indicated that the event was organized by a mainland manager, mentioning she was unaware of the presence of Hong Kong reporters until arriving at the venue.
Despite her intent to proceed with the interview, she recalled being stopped by the organizers, clarifying that the cancellation was unrelated to her husband’s incident.
