YMCA Christian Academy (YCA) is a unique community-oriented private primary school on Hong Kong Island offering a vibrant, future-ready international curriculum rooted in a clear Christian ethos and vision of education. They deliver this learning through the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), which is a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum for 5-11 years old. All IPC units follow a process to facilitate learning which places the learner at the centre and is structured to make sure that children’s learning experiences are stimulating and therefore effective.

People come first at YCA - staff, families, community. They are a community united in serving and prioritising the needs of their students in a nurturing Christian school culture. Their safe and inclusive learning environment provides an authentic, holistic education that encompasses the academic, spiritual, emotional, physical, and cultural needs of each and every student. They encourage their students to reach out to their community and care for them. This action leads to curiosity where they’ll use towards engaging, supporting and improving their community. YCA wants their students to gain confidence in their actions and have a deeper understanding of love, peace and joy, and have abundance and fulfilment in life.
At YCA, they highly value the foundation of literacy and numeracy, and it is at the core of every child’s learning at YCA. Their English programme is based on the UK National Curriculum and their mathematics programme is based on the Australian Mathematics curriculum. These well-developed curriculums together with their teaching and learning approach help develop confident, creative users and communicators of English and mathematics.
YCA students have daily Chinese classes taught by an experienced Chinese teaching team. Their language of instruction is Putonghua and students are taught to read and write Traditional Chinese characters. They offer three ability-levelled pathways for native and non-native speakers. Their programme promotes a love of Chinese language and culture and enables students to progress towards fluency.
YCA will be hosting their Open Day on 24 September 2022 for parents interested in meeting their Teaching Team and touring their campus. Children can join a workshop while parents learn more about the YCA approach to learning. They are also running weekly School Tours for families interested in touring the campus on weekdays.
