As the Easter holiday concluded on Sunday, a heartwarming incident unfolded at the Lok Ma Chau control point in Hong Kong. During the holiday, three sisters experienced unexpected kindness amid a health scare.
The event occurred on the evening of April 19, when the second eldest sister felt dizzy due to low blood sugar shortly after their return from a trip to the mainland.
Upon entering Hong Kong, the affected sister urgently needed to sit down. In the arrival hall, they borrowed a stool for her to rest. Shortly after, a young girl, approximately 5-6 years old, approached and offered a KitKat chocolate bar, encouraged by her parents who observed from a distance. Her mother suggested that the chocolate might help with the low blood sugar. After consuming the chocolate, the sister felt slightly better, but still not well enough to travel without support.
Around 8pm, the sisters attempted to board an MTR train to Sha Tin. Finding all priority seats occupied, they were about to wait for the next train when their eldest sister asked a female passenger for her seat. The woman kindly gave up her seat and even offered some bread to the dizzy sister, further aiding her recovery.
Throughout the train ride, the sisters engaged in a heartfelt conversation with the benevolent passenger but regretted not asking for her contact details to stay in touch after alighting at Sha Tin station. They later turned to the internet, hoping to reconnect with the woman who had shown them such kindness.
This incident sparked a discussion among netizens about the importance of being prepared for low blood sugar emergencies. Suggestions included carrying candy and opting for immediate medical help if the situation seemed severe.
Netizens also advised that in urgent situations, passengers could use the emergency button on trains or contact platform staff via the MTR MOBILE app for assistance. The original poster appreciated this advice, noting that they would be better prepared in the future.
One user expressed joy at seeing posts filled with positive energy, noting that the world really needs more uplifting posts and that it is delightful to see them. Many echoed this sentiment, believing that Hong Kong is home to many good-hearted individuals.
One person commented that if you ask politely, you will surely receive help, and mentioned plans to carry sugar packets in their handbag to assist others in need.
Another user suggested passing on the kindness received. The original poster mentioned that they always ask politely and feel embarrassed about it, but have thanked people many times.
