Hong Kong Customs, in the capacity of the World Customs Organization (WCO) vice-chairperson for the Asia/Pacific Region, hosted a three-day Conference on Simplification of Procedures and Best Practices for E-commerce along with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat.

The Conference brought together more than 200 representatives from the WCO, Asia/Pacific Region Customs administrations, ASEAN members, and international and local industries while covering a series of presentations and panel discussions addressing the challenges and opportunities in e-commerce.
It also marked the first time Hong Kong Customs organized a large-scale Asia/Pacific regional conference focusing on e-commerce.
The Conference, which concluded on Thursday (Apr 17), was also supported by the Economic and Technical Co-operation Work Program under the ASEAN-Hong Kong, China Free Trade Agreement.
A Joint Statement reaffirming the commitment to strengthening mutual collaboration between Customs administrations and e-commerce stakeholders to foster the growth and development of e-commerce across the Asia/Pacific region was also issued.
