This year, HKTB is collaborating with Art Basel for the first time to launch “Digital Art @Central”, an outdoor digital animation projection that features the latest creation of South Korean digital artist DeeKay Kwon, allowing locals and tourists alike to enjoy world-class digital art for free and immersing themselves into Hong Kong’s unique charm.

Deekay
Breaking traditional exhibition boundaries to connect art with the city
Adhering to his philosophy of “Art is for Everyone”, Deekay said that this collaboration with the Hong Kong Tourism Board is particularly meaningful. “Instead of only being experienced inside galleries or by collectors, the work becomes part of everyday city life, which strongly aligns with my belief that art should be accessible and open to everyone,” he emphasized.
“I was especially inspired by the people of Hong Kong and wanted to express the rich, vibrant, life-filled energy they all carry within them,” he said. He hoped that his work “DeePle The People” can reflect the city as a living, moving place shaped by its people, its rhythm and its cultural vibrancy, shifting the focus beyond the skylines and landmarks of Hong Kong.
“DeePle The People” depicts around 100 ordinary people moving through Hong Kong’s bustling streets while incorporating elements of iconic Hong Kong events, resulting in dragon boat paddlers, horse racing jockeys, chefs and singers. “Personally, my goal was to show that everyone has their own story, from struggles to blessings, from young to old, and that all of these unique individual stories coexist together in perfect harmony within the city of Hong Kong,” he explained.
He added that this collaboration feels especially meaningful because the audience is much broader, including locals, tourists and anyone simply passing by, which makes the experience more immediate, more inclusive and more connected to the city itself. This deep connection between art and the city with its people is a highly significant attempt in his artistic career.
Delve into community arts and culture with a one-stop art guide
Art Central is another mega arts and culture event taking place concurrently with Art Basel Hong Kong and Digital Art @Central. This year, Art Central has collaborated with HKTB to launch the digital “Hong Kong Art Month Discovery Guide”, covering gallery exhibitions, special museum showcases and performing arts programmes across Central, Sheung Wan, Wan Chai, Tai Hang, the Southern District, Tsim Sha Tsui and the West Kowloon Cultural District, complete with nearby dining recommendations. This all-in-one guide makes it easier for tourists and local art enthusiasts to plan in-depth art and culture experiences in Hong Kong.

Multi-channel promotion enhances the city’s mega-event ambience
To attract overseas tourists to Hong Kong to experience these mega events, HKTB is promoting these events through multiple channels, including a dedicated “Hong Kong MEGA 8” page on HKTB’s one-stop travel information portal which consolidates the latest event schedule and partnering with industry partners to launch themed travel packages; and organizing roadshows. These efforts strengthen promotion in both the Chinese Mainland and overseas markets, increasing tourist participation and extending their stay in Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, HKTB has invited international KOLs and the media from Chinese Mainland and overseas to visit Hong Kong for a first-hand experience of these mega events. Promotions are also featured on various social media platforms, and outdoor advertisements are placed in high-traffic locations such as the Mid-Levels Escalator, HKTB visitor centers, airport arrival halls, the Lo Wu Control Point and MTR stations to enhance the city’s mega-event atmosphere and showcase Hong Kong’s vibrancy as “Asia’s Event Capital”.
