A tragic incident unfolded in Sau Mau Ping on Friday morning when a man was discovered unconscious on a hillside and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The man was found around noon today, lying on the hillside opposite Shun Lung House at Shun Chi Court on Shun Chi Street, Kwun Tong. It is suspected that he fell from a height.
The estate's security personnel found him and immediately called for assistance.
Firefighters responded to the call and conducted a rescue operation. Unfortunately, the man was already unconscious when found and was declared dead after being rushed to United Hospital for emergency treatment.
Following a preliminary investigation, police disclosed that the victim, a 23-year-old man surnamed Chin, is believed to have fallen down another slope from the mentioned location.
No suicide note was discovered at the scene. The exact cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.
It has been reported that Chin left his residence at On Tai Estate earlier in the morning and had been missing since. His family lost contact with him and reported him missing to the police at 11.35am.
Approximately 20 minutes later, he was found on the hillside. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are treating the case as a suicide.
